The meaning of the Eagle Eye logo
Have you ever wondered where the Eagle Eye logo comes from and what it means?
Here is the meaning of the Eagle Eye logo in co-founder Anthony Sanchez's own words, from a Talons career training program for YouthBuild students in 2002.
The eagle sees six to eight times better than a human being. That means first of all, I always ask people, young people, do you know what you want in life? Do you have a clear vision of where you're going? What you’re up to? What you want to do? The first thing you need to have, like an eagle, is clear vision. I had a vision of what we’re doing today and it’s been manifested because I had a vision. So the first thing I ask of you is to have vision.
The second thing, when you have vision like an eagle, an eagle has wings, your education, your learning, your skill set, that’s going to get you where you want to go. However, an eagle doesn’t just flap its wings. It rides on thermals of air that circle around. These thermals of air are opportunities. You need to take advantage of the opportunities that are presented to you in life. That’s how you’re going to soar. When you soar and you see what you want and you have the skills to get there, you need your talons to grab hold of it. The determination that says I’m going to get that. When you grab it, just like the eagle grabs that fish you have to embody it, take it inside of you, then you become that thing, whatever it is, whether it’s a carpenter, lawyer, doctor, arborist. Whatever it is you want in your life, follow the lesson of the eagle.
Why is the eagle in this diamond or square? The square is the symbol of the four sacred directions – north, south, east, and west – where all humanity lives. Why is it in a circle? Because we’re all joined together in this thing called the circle of life. So people learned today about trees. Everybody knows trees give air, oxygen, but it's not just trees that help us maintain our life. It’s all living things on this planet that live together. This is nature. This is what our symbol means.
