In the past, Eagle Eye collected data from youth participants, youth workers and volunteer instructors via surveys, debrief discussions, interviews and recorded observations. We synthesized this data using a system of indicators that determined, based on percentages, our programs success in various areas. Feedback and testimonials from past programs illustrate the power of Eagle Eye learning programs to transform young people’s attitude and relationship with nature. At the same time, we recognize the need for more systematic evaluation research to clearly identify the efficacy of our programs. As a result, Eagle Eye contracted Ponte and Chau Consulting Inc. in 2012 to assess both the short-term and long-term impact of our learning programs. The research should yield data about the Urban Stewardship Project to illustrate its effectiveness and the extent to which the program’s goals are reached. In addition, the evaluation should provide insights into how to improve this program.
