Watching the sunset during their overnight Learn About Forests program at Ponkapoag Pond

Youth visit lakes, rivers and reservoirs and learn about the importance of clean water, water conservation and pollution prevention. The program enables youth to make informed decisions about their role in water protection. Activities vary depending on youth ages and experiences, site location, instructors and youth organization goals. Activities may include: Seine netting for fish, collecting and identifying aquatic insects, swimming, canoeing, conducting water and soil tests, learning about water usage and waste, tracing the path of water from a reservoir to the kitchen tap, and/or discussing the Clean Water Act.
