Our natural resource professional volunteers are an integral part of Eagle Eye Institute. These dedicated individuals bring their expertise and field knowledge to Eagle Eye programs and provide quality instruction to urban youth. Natural resource professionals promote personal growth and career opportunities for youth participants by leading hands-on exploratory activities in nature. They demonstrate the use of scientific knowledge and skill to better understand and care for the land. Programming Intern

Job Description:

As a Programming Intern, you will coordinate and plan a variety of Learn About Program events with the Program Manager. This may include pre-programming meetings with the youth, full-day programs at a natural site, and an urban stewardship project. You will also plan one to two overnight programs.  Interns working in the fall will have the opportunity to assist with planning the annual Hike-A-Thon, Eagle Eye’s signature fundraising event.

During programming events, you will assist in documenting activities through photography, video, and by transcribing notable quotes. You will also facilitate the youth and youth workers in filling out written evaluations.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to assist with other aspects of internal development.  For example, you may reach out to local businesses to secure donations for programming supplies and food, contact community partners to assist with stewardship projects, and seek new youth organizations and potential partners to collaborate with.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated interest in working with under served youth

  • Curiosity about and passion for the environment

  • Detail-oriented

  • Effective team player

  • Ability to work individually

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • Strong desire to learn and grow

  • First aid and CPR certification helpful, but not required

  • Prior experience working with youth preferred

  • All majors and backgrounds considered

 Compensation:

 While interns are unpaid, many past interns have applied for and received stipends. We are happy to help you through this process however we can.

Social Media and Marketing Intern

 Job Description:

        As a social media and marketing intern, you will keep our Facebook and Twitter up to date on a daily basis.  In addition, you will contribute to and help maintain our blog. You will develop social media strategies and work towards increasing the reach of our social media outlets.

You will also work with Eagle Eye Institute staff to create and implement short-term and long-term marketing strategies.  You will conduct regular market research about target market segments, as well as keep the Eagle Eye Institute team informed about industry trends. This position is extremely important because it is focused on building Eagle Eye Institute’s future and paving the way for further growth and development.  Social media is a major means through which we seek to convey our mission, goals, events, and achievements to target audiences.

  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Detail-orientated

  • Effective team player
